Hello
Michael O'Reilly
Agile Delivery Lead in Bournemouth. Ten years taking software from idea to live — through PMO, QA, product and engineering leadership — currently leading a cross-functional team in a UK central government department. I stay close to the technical work, and build things of my own to keep it that way.
About
I started in a PMO documenting change requests, moved into software testing, and ended up leading the department. That route means I have sat in most of the seats around a delivery team, which is usually why I can tell when a plan is going to hold and when it is not. At Amigo Loans I led the teams that launched RewardRate, a regulated financial product, and later delivered redress and Scheme of Arrangement communications to more than 200,000 customers while the company wound down.
I care most about psychological safety and about people being able to say what they actually think in a stand-up. The rest — the ceremonies, the metrics, the tooling — only works once that is true. Outside work I build small things: a Game Boy ROM hack, a training tracker, this site. Get in touch about delivery leadership roles, or about any of the projects below.

Planning Poker
Design and build
A real estimation tool, not a demo: a team opens a room, shares a link, and everyone votes from their own phone. Cards stay hidden until the last person is in — and not just on screen, since nobody else's browser is ever sent your card. The tool shows the spread and who went high and low, then leaves the number to the team.
-
Agile Battleships
Design and build
The exercise I use to argue for shipping small and often, playable in the browser. Three rounds against the same fleet with the same thirty shots and the same clock — the only thing that changes is how often you find out whether the plan is working. Hand-written, no libraries.
-
Agentic Delivery Pipeline
Design and build
A governed AI-assisted delivery process: acceptance criteria agreed before any work starts, a single human approval gate, and a scheduled unattended build that turns an approved ticket into a draft pull request. Layered instruction files and a permission policy keep it inside the lines.

Pokémon Renegade
Contributor
A ROM hack of Pokémon Red built on the pret/pokered disassembly. A single-cartridge Kanto playthrough with a level-scaling overworld, a recurring rival who ambushes you on the road, and all 151 Pokémon obtainable in one save file — no trading required.
-
Pit Wall
Contributor
A training and fuel tracker built as an installable PWA. Cloud-first storage with an offline cache, magic-link sign-in, and a shared strength podium for comparing lifts across users.

Wessex Vehicle Care
Contributor
A one-page site for a vehicle care business, plus its brand mark in flat, mono and print variants. Served as static assets from a Cloudflare Worker on a custom domain.
